IDNS Translator is a useful piece of software designed mainly as a conversion tool that can turn internationalized domain names into ASCII characters.

Internationalized domain names refer to those words that contain characters pertaining to a different alphabet, for instance Russian, Greek or Chinese, as well as languages that use the Latin alphabet but make use of diacritics, like German, Spanish or French.

The Domain Name System stores IDN using punycode transcription into ASCII, which is basically an acceptable text representation of various native language characters. Such domain names however can only be used with tools specifically created to this purpose.

The diacritics from a website's name are rendered into ASCII using a 'xn-' string in front of the initial word followed by the punycode equivalent, and eliminates the non-Latin character from its name.

IDNS Translator was developed in order to help users quickly turn internationalized domain names into ASCII characters, but it also work in the opposite direction, being able to convert ASCII domain names to IDN.

The application provides you with two working modes: 'Manual' and 'Batch'. In 'Manual' mode you can only work with only website at a time and copy the translated item to clipboard by pressing the 'Copy' button, so you can paste it in another location, for instance.

In 'Batch' mode, you can load a TXT file with the numerous targeted domains and translate the contents to either IDN or punycode, however you might need, by pressing the 'Translate' button, which will instantly output and open the results file. You can enjoy a large variety of songs you probably never heard of, in case you're looking for something new. Some of the most popular tunes can be accessed from the homonimous menu. In addition, you can make use of an integrated search engine to look up your favorite artists and songs.

Good but far from being a pro

The application also keeps you up to date with new entries, by accessing the "Latest" tab. Going through what the application has to offer, you might stumble across songs you like. These can be stored in a favorites manager for you to enjoy later.

However, several features are missing, considerably reducing potential. There is no implemented hotkey support so that you can easily skip songs and the application only gets minimized to the taskbar. Furthermore, favorite songs share the same list, with no option to create folders for a better management.

Unless using the provided search engine, it can be pretty difficult to find a song to suit your taste. Neither of the available tabs let you sort result by artist, song or even genre.

In conclusion

To sum it up, Hypergram does not really manage to live up to expectations. The idea behind the concept is good, but available features and the flawed design make it less practical than intended. Even with an active account there are no major benefits, except for the possibility to save songs to a list.

We have not come across any kind of issues during our tests, as the app did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. To sum it up, Http Traffic Generator is a simplistic tool for quickly testing websites by generating fake traffic, and can be handled by anyone.

The HL7Sender application was designed to be a small utility for sending HL7 messages through the network. It is rather simple, single form application with very few features. It can read, write, validate and send HL7 messages.

The upper part of the form shows the message in a rich text control where it can be edited. Be careful with these edits. Every HL7 segment starts in a new line. The best way to edit the message is simply to cut and paste segments from other messages (you can open multiple instances of the program) or fill text between two | signs (field separator).

At the lower part of the form there are a few text fields where the user can set the MLP network protocol elements, the TCP/IP protocol attributes (destination host name or IP address, port number and timeouts) and disable or enable ACK’s.

HL7Sender uses Igor Chernizer’s HL7ImEx HL7 parser and the two message structure text configuration files (segDefs and msgRules) are located in the installation folder and can be edited manually if necessary. The user can duplicate these files with different suffixes in order to use multiple ‘flavors’ of the HL7 version. The flavor’s suffix can be set in the ‘Message configuration version’ text box (don’t forget the dot ‘.’).

Halt description

A software application that restricts access to a list of websites you provide.

Halt! lets you create your own list of sites that you want to block and specify categories with your own blocking rules. You can block any site and this program doesn't depend on the browser that you use.

Start by adding a category: add a category name like "$$$", add a description "High Risk Gambling", set the blocking rule for this category "Always" and a date when this rule should expire "01/Jan/2007". (If you set the block to Schedule it will display the schedule frame and you can specify times when access is blocked/permitted)

The next column is called Change. This is the time delay which will be applied to this category if you decide to change the blocking rules, or if you amend a sites category.

When you have set the category name, description, Blocking rule, Expiry Date and Change delay you can click "Add Category". It should add the category to the list. Now we can add sites and assign this category.
