GoogleMapsRipper is a handy application that you can use to browse online maps from several services and it will also allow you to save imagery and other data on the fly.
The program supports a variety of customizations and insofar as the supported coordinate types are concerned, it will work with geographic, UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) and Gauss-Kruger system.
