FocalFilter is a lightweight software application built specifically for helping you block certain websites that distract your attention while working on projects, doing your homework, learning for an exam, or doing other types of activities where you need to stay focused on your work.

The tool can also be used as a parental control measure for making sure your children don’t spend too much time in front of the computer, playing games or chatting with their friends on Facebook.

Simplistic layout and basic functionality

You are welcomed by a plain yet easy-to-configure user interface that offers only a few configuration settings to tinker with.

FocalFilter gives you the possibility to create a list with custom websites that you want to block and set the time duration, namely from 5 minutes up to 12 hours. The list can be edited, as you are allowed to add new websites and delete the selected ones. On the downside, the tool doesn’t let you schedule the blocking process and set a master password for making sure other users’ cannot change the program’s settings.

Since it doesn’t require much computer knowledge to set up the dedicated parameters, even rookies can master the entire process with minimum effort. During our testing we have noticed that FocalFilter carries out a task quickly and without errors. It leaves a minimal footprint on system resources, so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered.
